Infections around dental implants are common. Peri-implantitis is difficult to treat and it is important to detect early signs of inflammation before progressive bone loss occur. Evaluation of risk factors associated with peri-implant infections is important, to be able to give each implant patient a proper maintenance program. If not diagnosed and treated, peri-implantitis may lead to implant loss.

Dr Ann-Marie Roos-Jansaker
President of the Swedish Society of Periodontics, Ann-Marie worked for 10 years as a general practitioner before she became a periodontist. During her specialist training she started her research on peri-implantitis, and in 2007 defended her thesis “Long time follow up of dental implants and treatment of peri-implantitis”. She now works as senior consultant and collaborate with several universities in research. She presents at both national and international courses.
