Modern day advances in fertility treatment has enabled this medical treatment to become increasingly popular. This may involve dramatic endocrine changes in the female. It is well known that systemic sex steroid hormones have been associated with increased gingival inflammation such as during pregnancy. Recent research outcomes will be presented regarding the impact of high-dose fertility medications upon the periodontium. Their significance in clinical practice will be discussed.
